Following the recent procurement process, South Kesteven District Council has chosen Leisure Connection, the leading public access facility management company to manage their five facilities for a further 15 years.
The contract comprises Grantham 'Meres' Leisure Centre, Grantham Athletics Stadium, Bourne Leisure Centre, Stamford Leisure Pool and Deepings Leisure Centre. In the past 12 months the contract has had £200,000 spent on refurbishing the facilities, which welcome several thousand users each week.
Leisure Connection was re-awarded the contract as a result of
the excellent work the team do week in, week out.
Leisure Connection puts a considerable focus on engaging the local
community and encouraging them to enjoy exercise and physical
activity within the different facilities. Initiatives such as
'Get Active Weekends', the £1 leisure card initiative, which was
circulated to all households and partnerships with the School
Sports Co-coordinator have a positive impact on the
community.
Work is also being done with Lincolnshire Primary Care Trust to
further develop access to the facilities for those with mental
health problems.
Graham Farrant, Chief Executive of Leisure Connection said:
"We are delighted to maintain our contract with South Kesteven
District Council and this is testament to the efforts of the local
on site team. It's pleasing to see effective partnerships
being fostered among relevant local organisations, which ultimately
aims to increase support and usage of the local authority
programmes. Leisure Connection will be working to extend and
improve existing arrangements, which are already in place and
encourage more local people to become more active, more
often."
